WILD CARD INTO FAMILY CIRCLE CUP QUALIFYING EVENT

SMASH Jr. CupProvides Opportunity for Star Junior Player to Compete in a Premier Event

CHARLESTON, SC (February23, 2010) – The Family CircleCup has granted its first Qualifying Wild Card of the 2010 event to ShelbyRogers, SMASH Jr. Cup presented by Dunlop Sport Girls 18 Division Champion, whodefeated Emily Gelber Scarsdale, NY  6-1, 6-2 in yesterday’s final. Rogers, a 17-year-old Daniel Island resident, will make her Sony Ericsson WTATour debut at the Charleston event.  The Family Circle Cup, a Sony Ericsson WTATour Premier Event, is scheduled April 10-18, 2010 at the Family Circle TennisCenter in historic Charleston, South Carolina.

Rogers is the No. 926 rankedplayer in the world, and the 73^rd ranked US player on the WTA Tour. She has notched a 6-4 ITF career record, posted earnings of $1,029 to date, andholds 11 Tour ranking points.

Roger’s 2009 ITFhighlights include reaching the semifinals in Girl’s 18s division at the$10,000 Costa Rica Bowl/ITF (San Jose, Costa Rica) and a $10,000/ITF event(Veracruz, Mexico), quarterfinals in Girl’s 18s division at both theEaster Bowl/ITF (Rancho Mirage, California) and a Missouri $10,000/ITF event(St, Joseph, Missouri).
